My mom and I took a trip to New York City in May. I've been once before. It's such a neat place, overwhelming at first, but since it's so different from everyday life here in Arkansas, it's a fun kind of different. We shopped, and did some of the tourist stuff, went to a Broadway show, and just generally enjoyed a girls' getaway. We went with two other ladies, sisters, one of which is the wife of my dad's cousin, and they were hilarious, and a lot of fun to travel with. Here's a smattering of pics from my trip:

Mom and I starting the day off right at a little restaurant in the Theatre District (which is also where we stayed, at a little boutique hotel called The Pearl - highly recommend it!) |
|
Connie and her sister, Kim - these ladies were so much fun! |

New York skyline |
|
Empire State Building |

Me and Mom on the bus - we did the "Hop On, Hop Off" bus tour thing - worked out pretty well ... |
|
Grand Central Station |
We went to the 9/11 Memorial/World Trade Center, and I really liked it. It's really a thing to see, you know? I like the way they planned everything out, and I, just, well, just really liked it (to be redundant).

At the NBC studio at Rockefeller Plaza - a great tour, would definitely do it again! |
|
Washington Bridge |
|
Flatiron Building |
We went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to see the Costume Institute Gallery exhibit "Punk", which I had read about in Vogue. I like the Costume Institute Gallery - it's always got cool stuff. And it was neat to see something I had just looked at in a magazine and see it in person.
We took a carriage ride through Central Park. Cheesy and very tourist-y, I know, but I liked it.

I think this is in Greenwich Village, which is a cool neighborhood. |
|
Times Square |
While I was gone, Alan and Jones had a great time hanging out! Jones is a big fan of Daddy :o) Alan got him to pedal his tricycle like a big boy!
I had fun on my trip, but I was glad to get back to my boys, and my favorite little feet in the whole wide world.
