The Perfect Weekend, or, the Ward Family Spends Some Quality Time Together

Last weekend we had a perfect weekend.  I mean, really, it was the perfect weekend from start to finish - you have to cherish those :o).

We spent Saturday at the pool, doing Jones' favorite activity:  swimming!

We took a brief pause for French Fries!

Then it was right back to swimming!

We came home and blew bubbles on the patio!

Then we had a delicious steak dinner!

The Spoiled Labradors even got a taste!

On Sunday, we went to church ...

Then had a delicious lunch of BLTs ...

And then a pool party at our friends' house, where Jones continued to show that he has absolutely no fear of the water by going off of the diving board without hesitation.  He watched Anna Kay jump off and as soon as she hit the water, he turned to me and said, "My turn!"

It really was the best weekend - one of those rare ones where you are busy all weekend, but you still feel totally refreshed come Sunday night, and we are all very thankful for that ... and for getting to spend time together.

Tales from Daycare, or, Recent Snippets from Jones' Days at Noah's Ark

I know that Jones loves to color, but I think this is a bit much ...

I have to admit, I laughed out loud when I read this note from daycare.  You have to admit:  pretty hilarious.  And better than eating a rock :o).

He moved up in the world when they gave him a cupcake later in the week - I mean, obviously, this cupcake was way more delicious than a crayon:

"What?  Is there something on my face?"

And, alas, it wouldn't be a daycare post without a picture to go with an incident report:

Looks like a tough guy, right?  Bless his heart, he and another child accidentally head-bumped/head-butted eachother.  I didn't really make much of it when I had to read and sign the incident report at school, but once I got him home I was like, "Man, you guys must have really hit each other hard; you've got a little bit of a shiner going there, buddy!"  We've been calling him tough guy all week :o).

All joking aside, we love Noah's Ark and all of the great people there.  Jones is learning so much - Alan and I are constantly amazed at the stuff he says that we know we didn't teach him, so he's getting all of that from the great teachers at Noah's Ark (a few examples:  he can sing his ABC's, he can sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, he can count into the teens, he knows several letters on sight, and the other day we were driving in our neighborhood and there was a big wooded lot in between two houses and he pointed at it and said, "Look!  Jungle!").  It's so nice to drop him off everyday and know he's having a good time and being cared for - all of the people that work there genuinely love all of the kids and they are so good with them, and he especially loves his teacher, Miss Shawna (shout out! :o)) and everyday he tells me stories about the kids at school; in the mornings, if he's kind of crabby for whatever reason, all we have to do is say, "Hey Jones, don't you want to go to school and see Miss Shawna and all of your friends (then we list all of the friends' names)?", and he perks right up and runs to get into the car and go - it's such a relief to not have to worry about that aspect of child-raising at all (since there is an endless supply of other stuff to worry about :o))!

In June, 2013, or, What's Happening with the Wards Lately!

Summer is in full swing and the Wards have been busy enjoying it!  We spent the first weekend in June up in Northwest Arkansas visiting Bunky A and Aunt Steph and Baby E and their new house (awesome!) and celebrating Bunky A's birthday.  Alas, I only got a couple of pictures from that weekend:

Ride 'em cowboy!

Does this look like a man who just turned 32?

Jones and I also made a trip up to Broken Arrow and had lots of fun!

We played in the sprinklers with Pepaw!

I think this picture/all of these pictures of the sprinklers are so sweet.  Jones was not having any of the sprinklers until Pepaw got into the game!  Then they ran back and forth and back and forth, lots of squealing and giggling from the Jones-man.  He would also run at an angle a lot, so that Pepaw ran through the sprinkler and Jones kind of did an end-run around it, and he would giggle at Pepaw, having to get wet.
We played in the dirt in Nana's flowerbed!

Truth be told, I didn't really know what he was up to for awhile.  He and my dad were around the corner, and I thought dad was just spraying him with the water hose, but then I thought, "Huh, he's staying pretty still over there."  And then my dad goes, "Y'all should really see what he's doing over here."  He was helping Nana with her landscaping :o)

We went swimming at Nana and Pepaw's neighborhood pool!

He swam, and swam, and swam, and swam - the child is a fish!  He would jump, and as soon as he hit the water he'd say, "Again!"  Then he would say, "I wanna swim!" and we would let him swim around the pool, or he'd get on Pepaw's back and ride along while Pepaw swam.  He's not even remotely afraid of the water, which is great, but means you have to watch him like a hawk - he'll jump in on his own without anyone to catch him, and he'll attempt to get into the water without floaties.  So, you know, we're always on high alert when we're at the pool.

We got to "drive" with Pepaw!

And that's just a couple of weekends!  We're loving the summertime!
